This is a 4G router with Amazon Alexa built-in.
Router
Good solid performance but rebooting can be a lottery, will it reconnect? It has a bug if you connect a PC via the LAN. When the PC sleeps the Cube may decide to disconnect from the internet with the blue LED showing red, meaning every other device using the internet is cut off as well. Remove the LAN lead and it will reconnect, shocking no appalling.
I have also had instances where it appears to be connected to the internet i.e. a blue LED showing and the web interface says it is online, but no device can access the internet. Removing the LAN does not work for this condition. Changing from 3G to auto or vice versa usually gets it back on because it uses another IP I believe.
4G maybe not
When I first installed the B900 it used 4G. The speed slowly climbed over a few days to 28Mbps, nowhere near the possible 300Mbps but I could live with that.
After a month or so I noticed it dropped to a miserly 5Mbps. I rang Three support and a support personnel had me switch the router from Auto mode (where it was using 4G) to 3G! The router rebooted and yep, it was back up to ~26Mbps. So I have bought a 4G router but it works faster on 3G! I have tried it back on 4G but it is now consistently slow on 4G. I believe this is because Three know the SIM fitted in the router, give you a month of fast 4G, then when the return period has passed, reduce the speed to make you choose 3G, sneeky.
Alexa
Pile of poo. This is a very flaky gimmick chucked in to appeal to the gullible punter (ooops that’s me). Let me explain, I wanted to try 4G home broadband and this little box was going for a song. Bought from Three.
As my wife suffers with aphasia I thought it would help her converse, and it does, she loves giving it commands. The problem is after it has been running for a few days it becomes unpredictable. Set a timer and it will carry out the command and play a sound, trouble is you can’t stop it. The chime will sound endlessly. Saying Alexa stop or cancel or pause does nothing zilch.
Set an alarm and it’s the same even if you get it to play the radio, it will cancel the radio but the alarm chime carries on.
Set a reminder and you gamble will there be anything when the times up, no! No sound lights nothing.
Now if you restart the device it will then perform correctly, for about 24 hours then it’s back to the issues. This is why reviews online are favourable because they are not thorough. Scouring the internet and the Amazon forums show that when anyone has an issue they are told to restart or even worse reset it!
That’s not acceptable, especially as it’s a router!
As noted above the weakness of the router is restarting so it is to be avoided and Alexa and Amazon rely on that to sort their shortcomings.
